The Fights

Antonio Nogueira v Frank Mir

Saw the build up for this last night on the coundown show. Two team leaders of Ultimate Fighter go toe to toe. Not sure who is going to come out on top in this one I think Mir will probably be the aggressor however Nogueria can take some real punishment before turning a fight around in a matter of seconds so Frank better be cautious. The winner takes on Lesnar I think so it should be real interesting.

Forrest Griffin v Rashad Evans

Two previous Ultimate Fighter champions go head to head in what could pottentially be a real slugfest. I think Evans is going to take this one just because he’s undefeated and he knocked out Chuck “the iceman” Lidell last time he looks hungry for this win.

Rampage Jackson v Wanderlei Silva

This fight is going to be a classic I’m calling it out the gate. We are talking rivalry between two fighters that take and ultimately can dish out extreme punishment. This fight is so important for Rampage to win he has lost twice to Silva who has previously stated that he doesn’t like him so we got a good old fashioned grudge match on our hands. My prediction is Rampage I actually think Silva has just as good a chance if not better but Jackson wants revenge and sometimes that is the fuel needed to win a fight of this magnitude.

Charlie Brooker’s Screenwipe is the shit!!

Imagine there was a show that basically insults and ridicules everything really shit on TV in a hilarious and often ingenius manner. Sounds to good to be true right? Well that’s exactly what Charlie Brooker’s Screenwipe is and last night he did a review of 2008 which without a doubt was probably one of the best thing I’ve seen on TV in quite a while. He rips into everything from Big Brother to X Factor and does it in a very funny way. If like me you hate most of the crap that passes for television these days then a programme of this nature should be right up your alley.

Tapping the Wire

I fist became aware of Brooker a few months back but it wasn’t untill I saw him co-signing the sheer brilliance of my favourite TV show of all time “The Wire” that I really started to take notice. (Type in Charlie Brooker Tapping the Wire into a search engine to see what i mean)

In  recent episodes of Screenwipe he spoke to various writers of shows such as Peep Show, Father Ted, Life on Mars and Doctor Who on their writing processes and ideas which provided  very interesting conversations and a interesting look into what goes into a good script and good dialogue. It is not often we get a deeper look behind the scenes into TV writing so this was a nice refreshing piece and we should really be seeing more of this kind of stuff on our screens.

Instead we are fed constant shite on a daily basis numbing our brain to the point where we can’t really tell what’s good anymore. But fear not I find great comfort in the fact that if a TV programme is complete bollocks Brooker will call it out soon enough. If only more people knew about this programme we would understand what is so terribly wrong with today’s TV programming.

My advice is to get your arse over to the bbc website and watch the 2008 year in review on iplayer it will be the funniest outlook on this year you will have seen.
